What is this thing called "EXIficient" ?
EXIficient is an open source implementation of the W3C Efficient XML Interchange (EXI) format specification written in the Java programming language.
The EXI format is a very compact representation for the Extensible Markup Language (XML) Information Set that is intended to simultaneously optimize performance and the utilization of computational resources.
A new EXIficient release is available. Welcome EXIficient 0.9.5!
Also, from now on EXIficient uses MIT license!

What was the reason to launch this project?
Good question ! :-) Let me state some reasons ...
- To enable EXI feature proof and test
- No open source EXI implementation available yet
- To support EXI working group
(W3C charter explicitly requires two interoperable implementations)....
The initial implementation was made possible by the support of Siemens Corporate Technology.
